Chargers Week 2 injury designations: TE Henry OUT, CB Davis Doubtful

The Los Angeles Chargers will be heading to Detroit for a Week 2 matchup with the Detroit Lions with significant injuries at several key positions.

Chargers starting running back Melvin Gordon’s contract holdout will keep him from playing against the Lions. Starting left tackle Russell Okung is on the NFI list and therefore is ineligible to play. Star safety Derwin James is on injured reserve, as is cornerback Trevor Williams.

Unfortunately for the Chargers, the list of injuries doesn’t stop there.

Ruled OUT

Starting Hunter Henry (knee) suffered a tibia plateau fracture in last Sunday’s game and has been ruled OUT for this week’s game. Early expectations are that Hunter could miss at least a month.

Listed as Doubtful

Starting corner Mike Davis (hamstring) is listed as doubtful and the expectations from the Chargers’ beat writers are that he is more likely to miss this week’s game. With Trevor Williams on IR, that means the Chargers will turn to their fourth option at corner, second-year undrafted free agent Brandon Facyson.

Listed as Questionable

Wide receiver Mike Williams (knee) injured his knee late in last week’s game, was held out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday but returned to practice on Friday. He looks like a game-time decision on Sunday.

Kicker Michael Badgley (groin) missed last week’s game but saw limited practices all week. Punter Ty Long took on placekicking duties with Badgley’s absence and won AFC special teams player of the week. They should be ok either way.

Starting MIKE linebacker Denzel Perryman (ankle) only saw action on special teams last week as the Chargers are slowly working him back into action while recovering from injury.

Isaac Rochell (DE, concussion) and Roderic Teamer (S, hamstring) both missed practice on Wednesday but returned to practice on Thursday and Friday.

Jatavis Brown (S, ankle) and Geremy Davis (WR, hamstring) practiced all week in a limited fashion.
