Chargers ‘moving on’ from Cardinals QB Josh Rosen sweepstakes

The 2019 NFL draft is just an hour away and we will finally find out if the Cardinals are going to select former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall selection. If Arizona selects Murray, it’ll likely end Josh Rosen’s short tenure with the team after being their first round selection just a year ago.

The Chargers have been one of the top pairings for Rosen, if he’s shipped away. But that ship might be sailing away, as Los Angeles has appeared to have zero interest in trading for the former UCLA product, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Anderson states that L.A. had interest earlier on and certainly did their homework on Rosen, but are moving on at the moment. She then goes on to say that they have no idea who the Bolts will be selecting in the 2019 NFL draft.

The Chargers have been in discussion for bringing in another quarterback, but the likeliness of that just seems low. Even though Philip Rivers’ contract is up after 2020, he is coming off a career season, proving he has three more years left in the tank. They also brought in Tyrod Taylor on a two-year deal to back him up, which should’ve put all talks of adding a quarterback to rest.

Los Angeles must add quality starters in this year’s draft at the positions of need (offensive tackle, defensive tackle, free safety, cornerback). The team is better off waiting until 2020 to consider drafting a quarterback.
