Chargers make multiple roster moves, sign TE Lance Kendricks

The Chargers announced that they have signed tight end Lance Kendricks and re-signed defensive end Chris Peace on Tuesday.

Los Angeles also announced that safety Adrian Phillips has been placed on injured reserve and wide receiver Andre Patton was waived. In addition, safety Adarius Pickett was signed to the practice squad.

L.A. was in need of shoring up the tight end position to fill in for the injured Hunter Henry, which led to the signing of Kendricks.

Kendricks was signed by the Patriots prior to the 2019 season, but he was suspended for the first game for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. He was released after being reinstated.

Kendricks played with the Rams for six seasons, which was followed with two with the Packers. In the eight-year span of being in the NFL, Kendricks has 2,505 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Kendricks, 31, supplies the team with another solid run-blocking option. It’s uncertain who will get the majority of the targets between him and Virgil Green, but this will allow the Chargers to run two-tight end sets.
