Chargers have until Saturday to activate Russell Okung for Week 7 vs. Titans

Chargers offensive tackle Russell Okung practiced for the second consecutive day on Friday, but that doesn’t mean it’s certain he will play this weekend against the Titans.

Los Angeles will have until 1:00 p.m. PT if they wish to add him to the active roster ahead of the Week 7 matchup.

“He’s only had a day and a half of practice, so if it’s not enough to go in there and help us, and it could actually hurt us, then I have to make that decision,” coach Anthony Lynn said in regards to Okung’s status, per ESPN’s Eric D. Williams.

Okung received full medical clearance to get back on the field, but it doesn’t mean he is in football shape. While he was out, he primarily worked out in the morning to maintain his overall fitness.

Lynn has been notorious for being cautious with injuries and non-football illnesses, which is why he wants to make sure that he is 100 percent a full-go before throwing him out there again.

If Okung is active this weekend, it would give a boost to an offensive line that has struggled to keep quarterback Philip Rivers upright and hasn’t been able to open up running lanes on a consistent basis.
