Channel 4 A Place in the Sun host winces as buyers 'pull stunt'

A Place in the Sun presenter Lee Juggurnauth was taken aback by a "cheeky" end to the latest property hunt.

Wednesday's episode saw host Lee on hand to help Julie and Peter find their dream holiday home in South West France. With a budget of £200,000, the couple wanted a two-bedroom detached property with traditional French features.

As the search got underway, Lee managed to impress them, with a few homes said to be potential contenders. But it was the fifth and final property that won the couple over.

The three-bedroom house in Degagnac was on the market for just over £185,000. A converted former school, the home had a huge garden with a well in it.

Inside there was plenty of traditional French character, and there was a separate building for guests. Julie told Lee: "You've pulled this one out of the bag".

Peter said it was "perfect", and Julie's only issue was there was nowhere for guests to shower. Lee said there was room to add a shower to the separate en-suite, estimating this would cost around £5,000.

When it came to making a decision, the couple decided they would put an offer in on the property. Lee had told them there would be room for some negotiation, but even he was left wincing when he heard their offer of £150,000.

The presenter said: "That is significantly lower than the asking price, what's the reason for that?" Julie said: "We need to put in a shower room downstairs for the second bedroom, convert the annexe garage doors into proper windows and doors and we would like to put a swimming pool in."

Viewers at home were equally taken aback. Taking to Twitter, Ashley said: "That is quite the stunt to pull", while Maria called it a "cheeky move" and Fi called it a "mean offer" for what they would be buying.

Their offer was rejected, leaving Julie and Peter still to find their perfect holiday home.
