TIRUPATI: Former chief minister and Telugu Desam party's national president N Chandrababu Naidu launched the "one lakh votes majority" campaign at his home constituency Kuppam in Chittoor district on Thursday.
Addressing an impressive gathering at a public meeting on the second day of his ongoing tour, Naidu thanked the people of Kuppam for being a pillar of support to the Telugu Desam party since it's inception.
"There are only two assembly constituencies in the state where the TDP has won 9 consecutive elections on a trot and while one is Kuppam the other assembly constituency is Hindupur in Anantapur district. This shows how committed the people of these two constituencies are to the Telugu Desam party", the TDP chief remarked.
"Not just Kuppam but the entire state of Andhra Pradesh has been adversely reeling under the impact of the YSRCP misrule since 2019. But the days are numbered for the YSRCP which will be on its way out of power in the state within six months from now. The entire state is eagerly waiting for the TDP to return back to power and set things right", Naidu expressed confidence.
The TDP chief recalled his painstaking efforts to transform Kuppam into a role-model assembly constituency in the state during the last 35 years since he first contested from here in 1989.
"There have been many elections when I never even had to campaign for myself as an MLA as you all entrusted me the larger responsibility of bringing the Telugu Desam party to power in the state. And every single time, the people of Kuppam have stood by their word and elected me as their MLA for seven consecutive terms on a trot," the TDP chief underlined.
Promising the voters and the people of Kuppam that they would see massive development on all fronts in the constituency in the next five years once the TDP comes back to power in the ensuing assembly elections, Naidu appealed to the people and the party cadres to aim for one lakh votes majority for him in the next elections.
The former Chief minister later listed out numerous welfare measures planned by the TDP as part of its manifesto for the next elections and reiterated that the state of Andhra Pradesh which is at crossroads on all fronts needs a credible governance which only the Telugu Desam party can offer.
