Championship transfer rumours: Ex-Leeds owner eyes return, Swansea defender poised for £20m move

Ex-Leeds owner linked with return

Former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is considering a return to English football by purchasing Charlton Athletic, reports via LeedsLive state.

The 63-year-old was rarely out of the headlines during his three years at Elland Road, getting through no fewer than six managers during his time at the helm.

Since leaving in January 2017, Cellino returned to his homeland by purchasing Brescia but they currently sit rock-bottom of Serie A and he is frustrated with the handling of the coronavirus situation.

As such, it’s reported a return to English football could be on the cards with cash-stricken Charlton being eyed.

Defender set for £20m Swansea exit

Manchester United are pushing to complete a £20m move for Swansea City defender Joe Rodon after receiving a recommendation from Wales manager Ryan Giggs, The Mirror reports.

The United legend handed Rodon his international debut and is a big fan of the 22-year-old, which has led him to suggest to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that a deal for the defender should be completed.

United did, of course, complete business with Swansea last summer to bring Daniel James to Old Trafford, where he has been a success, and they continue to eye top British talent to rejuvenate their squad.

However, they could face competition in the market as Manchester City are also keeping tabs on his services.

Spurs join chase for Stoke youngster

Tottenham are the latest club to join the hunt for Stoke City talent Mohamed Sankoh, Football Insider reports.

Everton, Celtic and Chelsea are already in the fight for the 16-year-old, who sees his youth contract with the Staffordshire side expire in the coming months.

The Holland U17 international is keen on a move to a top club and he will be available for a free transfer imminently, if Stoke are unable to agree fresh terms with a player who has featured regularly for the U18 side this term.

Forest eye Benfica winger

Nottingham Forest are considering a swoop for Benfica winger Jota ahead of next season, Portuguese outlet Record states.

The 21-year-old could be on the move in the next transfer window in order to secure more regular first-team opportunities and he could be presented with that chance at the City Ground.

He has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Benfica in the 2019/20 season and, with the economic situation, loan deals could be vital for clubs next term.
