Championship club plot move for midfielder on loan at Nottingham Forest - reports

Charlton Athletic are reportedly plotting a move to sign on-loan Nottingham Forest midfielder John Bostock.

Football Insider are reporting that the Addicks are looking to sign the 27-year-old on loan for the second half of the season.

The report adds that Forest and Toulouse would have to agree to cancel Bostock’s loan move early to allow him to find another club before the end of this month’s transfer window.

Bostock is currently down to spend the season on loan at the City Ground from French club Toulouse, but has struggled for game time under Sabri Lamouchi.

He has been restricted to just five appearances in all competitions so far this season, with his last outing coming as a substitute in the 4-0 win over QPR at the end of November.

The midfielder has started just one league match for Forest this season, which came in the 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic in October where he was replaced by Tiago Silva before the hour mark.

In terms of potential incomings, Forest have recently been linked with a loan move for Porto midfielder Sergio Oliveira.

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi has admitted some players could leave Nottingham Forest during the transfer window - once new signings have arrived.

The Frenchman is eager to retain a reasonable sized squad and says he does not want to see “a lot of movement” during January.

“Of course if some players come, we need to make some changes,” Lamouchi said.

“But for the moment, that is not the priority.

“My priority is to keep the team spirit. I don’t want a lot of movement. I don’t want a lot of players. Because with more players, there are more problems if they don’t play.

“I want all players focused on our target. Our target is game by game, to fight and to work all together until the end.”
