Tuesday Champions League: Roberto Di Matteo ahead of the Chelsea v Napoli match
It's Chelsea's first foray into Europe since the departure of André Villas-Boas and caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo looks nervous before the start of the match. Maybe he's checking the stands to see if Roman Abramovich is there Photograph: John Sibley/Action Images
Tuesday Champions League: David Luiz shepherds the ball away from Napoli's Ezequiel Lavezzi
Chelsea are 3-1 down after the first leg and though they have an away goal, they will need to ensure that Napoli don't grab one of their own to have any chance of making it through to the next round. Tuesday Champions League: Chelsea's Ramires challenges Napoli's Christian Maggio
The visitors start the brighter of the two teams and should have scored after 13 minutes when Christian Maggio, here tussling with Ramires, fired the ball across the face of the goal and Cavani, arriving at the far post, struck the ball into the side-netting from close range Photograph: Dylan Martinez/Reuters
Tuesday Champions League: Chelsea's Drogba scores past Napoli's Aronica
Napoli will be rueing that miss when, after 29 minutes, Chelsea take the lead against the run of play. Ramires puts an inviting cross in from the left and Didier Drogba gets across Aronica to meet the cross and powerfully head the ball into the net Photograph: Dylan Martinez/Reuters

Tuesday Champions League: Napoli's Gokhan Inler scores against Chelsea
However, just eight minutes later the pendulum swings back in Napoli's favour when , after trapping the ball on his chest, Inler unleashes a fantastic low volley which Petr Cech can only stand and stare at as the ball flashes into the far corner and bristles into the back of the net... Tuesday Champions League: David Luiz of Chelsea appeals to the Referees assistant for a penalty
In the 75th minute there's a big shout from the Chelsea players for a penalty after Andrea Dossena handles Branislav Ivanovic's header. The referee agrees and points to the spot. Lampard steps up and smashes the ball home. That's 3-1 to Chelsea and 4-4 on aggregate so extra time looks likely Photograph: Clive Rose/Getty Images
Tuesday Champions League: Napoli's goalkeeper De Sanctis fails to stop a shot by Chelsea's Ivanovic
Chelsea carve out a number of chances during extra-time and then at the end of the first period finally convert one of them. Some fine work on the right by Ramires means he can find Drogba whose smart turn gives him time to put in a first-time low cross into the centre of the area. An unmarked Branislav Ivanovic is waiting and wastes no time smacking the ball into the roof of the net... Photograph: Dylan Martinez/Reuters

Tuesday Champions League: The defeat is too much for Napoli's Ezequiel Ivan Lavezzi
Chelsea attempt to smother Napoli in the second period of extra time in order to wind down the clock, and it works. The final whistle goes and Chelsea have won 4-1 on the night and 5-4 on aggregate. Unbelievable! Ezequiel Ivan Lavezzi and Paolo Cannavaro certainly can't believe it Photograph: Giuseppe Cacace/AFP/Getty Images

Tuesday Champions League: Real Madrid's Jose Mourinho looks on before the game against CSKA Moscow
Over in Madrid the former Chelsea manager José Mourinho has worries of his own as Real only drew the first leg against CSKA Moscow 1-1, so Madrid's progression to the next round is far from a foregone conclusion Photograph: Juan Medina/Reuters
Tuesday Champions League: Gonzalo Higuain scores against CSKA Moscow
Those worries were assuaged when the failure of CSKA's offside trap left Gonzalo Higuain alone at the far post to flick the ball home Photograph: Daniel Ochoa de Olza/AP
Tuesday Champions League: Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo scores to make it 2 nil against CSKA Moscow
Ten minutes into the second half Ronaldo makes it two. CR7 chanced his arm with a shot from 35 yards which Chepchugov should have easily dealt with. It did swerve a little bit but the hitherto impressive goalkeeper makes an absolute mess of it and lets it slip through his hands and into the corner of the goal Photograph: Denis Doyle/Getty Images
Tuesday Champions League: Real Madrid's Karim Benzema celebates after scoring their third goal

Tuesday Champions League: CSKA Moscow's Zoran Tosic scores against Real Madrid
CSKA pull a goal back in the 77th minute but it's too little too late, which is a bit of a shame as it's a corker of a goal. Dzagoev broke forward on the counter down the right then passed Zoran Tosic who cuts inside from the left, stops to throw the backtracking defender and switches the ball from his right foot onto his left. He then smashes a curling shot out of Iker Casillas's reach and into the back of the net Photograph: Felix Ordonez/Reuters
Tuesday Champions League: Real Madrid's Ronaldo celebrates after scoring against CSKA Moscow
With CSKA still chasing the game they leave themselves open at the back, and in the dying moments of the game Real take advantage of this. They work the ball up the right to Benzema who rolls it across the six-yard box to Ronaldo who takes it in his stride and flicks his finish into an empty goal. So the final score of 4-1 gives Real Madrid an aggregate victory of 5-2 and they too are in the hat for the quarter-finals. When Mourinho was asked about Chelsea in the post-match interview this is what he had to say "I know, if I get them in the quarters, or semis, or final, they will be a great opponent. I am so happy for the boys (Chelsea players), because they have incredible character...They have had a hard time, but now happiness is coming." When asked if he wanted to face Chelsea in the final, he said: "I would love (it)." Photograph: Susana Vera/Reuters
