Cesar Azpiliceta issues warning to Chelsea team-mates after FA Cup victory vs Hull City

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has warned his teammates they must improve following the 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round victory against Hull City.

Michy Batshuayi and Fikayo Tomori exchanged goals either side of the break but Kamil Grosicki's deflected effort put the Premier League side under the hammer in the closing stages.

The Blues failed to put the game to bed, something that has been a problem for Frank Lampard's side in recent matches, and will have plenty to work upon after the match.

Azpilicueta confirmed as much with a damning assessment of Chelsea's performance following the match, where he stated they stopped playing as a team and performed as individuals at times.

“We cannot concede in these types of circumstances, we have to do much better. We know that we have to improve our game if we want to improve as a team and go far,” he told BT Sport.

“Tonight was a game that we could have handled much better and it’s not the first game where we don’t manage it well. At the end, we were in our own box and sometimes we were panicking. We know that we have to improve.

“The first chance we had we scored and then we had two clear chances to score more. We stopped playing our game, we stopped playing as a team and we started to do individual actions that is not our game and we get punished.

“If we want to play against the best teams and to fight for trophies, we have to improve.”

Chelsea will discover their fifth-round opponents following Monday night's draw, which will be shown live on BBC One at 7pm.
