Celtics injury update: Boston to sit seven vs. New York Knicks for season finale

The Boston Celtics will finish the 2020-21 NBA season with precisely zero of their seven best players in uniform, sitting the bulk of their postseason rotation out to rest or recover from a number of ailments ahead of their away tilt with the New York Knicks this afternoon.

The team announced that Jaylen Brown (left scapholunate ligament surgery), Jayson Tatum (left ankle impingement), Kemba Walker (left cervical nerve impingement), Robert Williams III (left foot turf toe), Evan Fournier (right knee hyperflexion), Marcus Smart (right calf contusion) and Tristan Thompson (left pectoral strain) are all listed as scratches for the final game of the season.

With the seeding picture fully cemented for the Celtics and health critical to any postseason aspirations, an exceptionally cautious approach makes sense.

The Celtics tip off against the Knicks at 1 p.m. Eastern Time at Madison Square Garden.
