Celtic XI to play Rangers revealed as Balikwisha, Saracchi, and Idah calls made

Brendan Rodgers has named his Celtic team to face Rangers at Ibrox this afternoon.

Kasper Schmeichel continues in goal, as Cameron Carter-Vickers partners Liam Scales at the heart of defence.

Kieran Tierney plays in his first Glasgow Derby since 2019, when Celtic won 2-1 thanks to a late James Forrest strike.

Captaining the team in midfield is Callum McGregor, as Daizen Maeda leads the line.

New signing Michel-Ange Balikwisha is in from the off for a baptism of fire, with Marcelo Saracchi among the substitutes.

Amid a wealth of transfer speculation, Adam Idah is NOT in the squad.

Celtic haven't beaten their city rivals in 90 minutes in 364 days.

With a victory today, they can move nine points clear of Rangers just four games into the new campaign.

Here is the team boss Rodgers is hoping will do just that...

Confirmed Celtic team to play Rangers: Schmeichel, Ralston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Tierney, McGregor, Hatate, Engels, Balikwisha, Nygren, Maeda.

Subs: Sinisalo, Yang, McCowan, Shin, Bernardo, Saracchi, Murray, Forrest, Donovan.
