Celtic vs Inverness set for TV channel switch if FA Cup goes to extra-time

The BBC have confirmed that their coverage of the Scottish Cup final may be forced into a channel switch if the FA Cup in England goes to extra time.

The SFA confirmed last month that Scotland's end-of-season cup showdown would be moved to kick-off at 5:30pm due to the FA Cup between Manchester United and Manchester City taking place on the same day at the usual time of 3pm.

Celtic have since voiced their concerns over the move, insisting they don't feel it was a necessary change.

A club statement read: "We are hugely disappointed that the Scottish Cup Final has been moved from its traditional 3pm slot, something we don’t believe was necessary, or in the best interests of both sets of supporters.

“Additionally, there was no meaningful consultation with Celtic on this matter, in terms of assessing the many issues affecting supporters attending the match - something which is also extremely regrettable.”

Now the BBC have confirmed that coverage of the final may be forced to change from BBC One Scotland to the BBC Scotland channel if the FA Cup goes to extra-time, which would overlap the Scottish Cup final coverage.

A story on the BBC website states: “The Cup Final will be shown live on BBC One Scotland and iPlayer, with the Sportscene programme also having a half-hour build-up on the BBC Scotland channel.

“If the FA Cup Final goes to extra-time and penalties, the Scottish Cup will be start on BBC Scotland and move to BBC One Scotland when the former is finished.”
