Celtic transfer confirmed as Aaron Mooy becomes Ange Postecoglou's newest recruit

Celtic have added further midfield reinforcements to their ranks with the signing of Aaron Mooy.

The Australia international - who worked under Ange Postecoglou with the national team - has put pen to paper on a two-year deal as he becomes the latest summer arrival at the Scottish champions. He joins Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota, who both turned successful loan stints at Tottenham and Benfica into full-time deals, Alexandro Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist in arriving this window.

Mooy was a free agent after leaving Shanghai Port. The 31-year-old impressed at Huddersfield and Brighton prior to the Chinese Super League move and has been capped 53 times by his country. He is no stranger to Scottish football having had a stint at St Mirren in the past. The move to Parkhead could help the midfielder rubber stamp his place in Graham Arnold's squad for the World Cup finals later this year after a play-off shootout win over Peru.

It's set to be a big season for Celtic as they bid to retain the Premiership crown they won from rivals Rangers last season and scoop domestic silverware. They also will compete with Europe's elite after earning direct entry to the Champions League group stages after their league title success.

They've been hard at work in pre-season as the preparations for the competitive action continue.

They drew 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers last time out in front of a sell-out crowd at Parkhead.

Celtic's Premiership campaign kicks off on July 31 with Aberdeen the opposition in the opener.
