Celtic could be set to lose out on another striker target to Ajax this summer.
The Hoops were beaten to the signature of Kasper Dolberg at the same time last year as the former Anderlecht attacker moved to the Eredivisie giants.
Celts wanted the 28-year-old but wasted a lot of time haggling on price before the player eventually switched to Ajax where he made just 22 appearances and scored three goals in all competitions.
Now another alleged Celtic target is closing in on the same move from Shamrock Rovers in the Republic of Ireland with Michael Noonan poised to make the life-changing deal happen.
According to reports in his homeland, Noonan is in advanced discussions with the European heavyweights over a move where he will link up with their youth squad who play their games in the Dutch second tier.
Noonan is still just 17-years-old and may not have been expected to be a starter at Parkhead, either. However the interest showed a desire from Celts to work with him long-term.
He, like Dolberg, only managed three goals across last season where he featured 28 times.
Noonan did, however, play in Europe as a kid and made history as a spritely 16-year-old when he found the net for the first-team against Molde to become the youngest scorer ever in the Europa Conference League.
