Celtic starting team news vs Dundee United as Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor return

Celtic are aiming to restore their nine point lead over Rangers at the top of the Premiership against Dundee United.

Ange Postecoglou's side have been relentless this season to date in the league only losing one and drawing one of 22 games. It is the kind of form that has stopped unbeaten Michael Beale the chance to claw back any distance on the Scottish champions in the race for the title and after watching the Light Blues pick up three points yesterday, the Hoops gaffer will be demanding a similar outcome for his side this afternoon.

The two sides have already met twice this season in the league with Celtic winning on both occasions. The league leaders ran out 9-0 winners in the first meeting between the pair at Tannadice in an unforgettable afternoon while the second match was much closer with Postecoglou and his troops needing last-gasp goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada to run out 4-2 winners.

Speaking ahead of this one, the Celtic boss said: “Even in that 9-0 game, we only scored our second goal in the 40 th minute if I remember correctly, so we had to work hard on that day too.

“We had to work hard to get our dominance and it will be no different this week. We’ve done that in every game where we go out there and try and put our authority on it, play our football and put the opposition under pressure home and away.'

“Sometimes it doesn’t yield results like that one but it doesn’t mean we’re not as dominant in other games. Dundee United under Liam has improved since then in their understanding of how they want to play and they look a lot more settled as a side.

“Since the break, they’ve come back a lot more consistent in their form and their results, so for us we know it’s a challenge, but we know we’ve been good and we want to continue that.”

CELTIC XI: Hart, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor, McGregor, Hatate, Mooy, Abada, Jota, Kyogo

Subs: Bain, Haksabanovic, Turnbull, Kobayashi, Oh, Iwata, O'Riley, Maeda, Forrest
