Celtic stars spotted enjoying night out at Lewis Capaldi's Glasgow gig

Celtic players were spotted enjoying a night out at Lewis Capaldi's sold-out OVO Hydro show in Glasgow.

The team enjoyed a night off from training as James Forrest, Joe Hart, Scott Bain, Greg Taylor, David Turnbull, and James McCarthy watched the Scots singer's show from the balcony. First-team coach Gavin Strachan was also in attendance at the Glasgow gig, and posed for photos with fans.

In a fitting nod to the Celtic players in attendance, the pianist began playing Hoops song "It's a Grand Old Team to Play For".

In a hilarious turn of events, the West Lothian superstar finished performing his ballad Bruises and confessed to the audience he wasn't even playing the piano. He said: "By the way, I'm not even f****g playing the piano. Aiden, play something. Give them something nice, look, watch this."

The pianist began playing the Celtic song much to Lewis' delight as he shouted: "No, noooooo, no. Aiden, I did not approve of that song."

The audience erupted into a huge cheer as Lewis continued: "Right. Relax here, everybody. Aiden's getting the f*****g sack tomorrow, nearly started a riot there. I told you, two cities, do not mention it in Glasgow. That's thrown a spanner in the works."

Celtic fans were absolutely delighted with the pianist's hijinks and took to social media after the gig to buzz about football tribute.

One tweeted: "It’s my birthday today n I went to @LewisCapaldi in the Hydro where they played the Celtic Song n I do feel like that was for me, so cheers x".

While another said: "Highlight of the @LewisCapaldi gig? When he “played” ‘The Celtic Song’ on the piano"

This comes as the Celtic players delighted fans as they stopped to take photos during the gig. Goalkeeper Joe Hart posed beside a buzzing fan in the OVO Hydro, while coach Gavin Strachan was also stopped by fans.

Lewis is known to be a fan of the Hoops, although not as vocally as Martin Compston or Rod Stewart. The Someone You Loved singer even belted out 'It's a grand old team' to a 20,000 strong crowd at London's O2 Arena last year.
