Celtic player ratings vs Hibs as champions respond from setback to claim comeback win

Celtic had to come from behind to earn a hard-fought victory over Hibs at Parkhead.

Ange Postecoglou's winning juggernaut rolled on as they restored the gap at the top of the league to nine points. A frustrating opening 45 saw Celtic dominate possession. A moment of concern came with Reo Hatate limped off clutching his hamstring. Kyogo then came close but his chested effort was stopped by David Marshall.

Hibs were then reduced to ten when Elie Youan was sent off for two silly fouls. Despite having the man advantage, it was Celtic who conceded the first goal. A VAR call awarded Hibs a penalty after Carl Starfelt was penalised for pulling Paul Hanlon's shirt. Josh Campbell rifled home giving the Hoops with work to do.

Celtic came flying out in the second half earning a penalty which was slotted home by Jota. They forced the issue pinning Hibs back. Kyogo then saw his effort cleared off the line. Postecoglou threw on Oh and Abada in search for the lead. And it was Oh who made the difference. The big Korean striker powered a header past Marshall to give the Hoops a deserved lead.

Abada was then awarded a penalty but after a VAR check the decision was overturned. Celtic sealed the three points when Haksabanovic struck two minutes into injury time.

Joe Hart - 4

Very little to do as Hibs camped in.

Alistair Johnston - 6

Bombed up and down the right over lapping with Jota. A great engine on the Canadian international.

Cameron Carter-Vickers - 6

Took a sore one as Ellie Youan's high boot struck his head. Very little to do on the defensive side.

Carl Starfelt - 5

Penalised for a foul after a VAR call caught him tugging Paul Hanlon's jersey.

Greg Talyor - 5

Another consistent performance from Greg Taylor. Subbed for Alexandro Bernabei despite doing little wrong.

Callum McGregor - 7

Controlled the middle of the park and enjoyed plenty of the ball. Never gave up as Celtic piled on the pressure.

Reo Hatate - 3

Limped off after 13 minutes after pulling up and holding his hamstring. Could be a massive blow for the Hoops.

Matt O'Riley - 5

Give an opportunity ahead of the injured Aaron Mooy. Industrious display but lacks the goal threat that Mooy now carries. Subbed in the second half for Abada.

Jota - 6

Provided Celtic's best moment of the opening 45 with a perfect cross for Kyogo. Squeezed his penalty past Marshall to level it.

Daizen Maeda - 6

Celtic's main creative spark in the first half. Ran out of steam into the second. Replaced by Oh.

Kyogo Furuhashi - 7

Few chances fell to Celtic's star man as he could only get his chest on a fine Jota cross. Had his effort dramatically cleared off the line.

Subs

David Turnbull - 5

Slotted in for Hatate with big boots to fill. Celtic missed their midfield maestro with Turnbull struggling to live up to the same levels.

Oh - 8

Replaced Maeda as Celtic opted to go more direct. Proved an instant threat latching onto crosses. Bulleted his header in as Celtic took a late lead.

Alexandro Bernabei - 4

On for Greg Taylor. Gave away a cheap foul that could have cost his side.

Liel Abada - 5

Brought on as Celtic searched for the lead. Added another dimension to the Celtic attack as Hibs defended for their lives. Had penalty claim ruled out by VAR.

Sead Haksabanovic - 5

Came on as Celtic probed for a third to kill the game. Took his moment with a stunning right foot curler into the net to wrap up the victory.
