Celtic player ratings as Tom Rogic dazzles but Carl Starfelt suffers against Hibs

Celtic swept up the first silverware of the campaign with a hard-fought victory over Hibs in the Premier Sports Cup Final.

Two goals from returning hero Kyogo Furuhashi proved enough to overturn Paul Hanlon's opener in a pulsating afternoon at Hampden.

Ange Postecoglou 's side dug in and held on for the win with interim Hibs boss David Gray unable to conjure another moment of magic at the national stadium.

It means the Postecoglou era has its first trophy on a joyous day for a huge Celtic support in Mount Florida.

Here's how Record Sport 's Keith Jackson rated the Celtic players.

JOE HART: The veteran keeper had a good warm up. And that seemed as busy as his big day out was to get after 45 minutes without a save to make. The former England No.1 was caught flat footed for the opener but redeemed himself with smart saves from Nisbet and Newell. 6

JOSIP JURANOVIC:
Back on the right hand side of Celtic’s back four, the Croatian international looked comfortable and assured. Always looking to get forward and cause Hibs problems but booked for a cynical trip on speed merchant Martin Boyle. 6

CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS:
The powerhouse defender was one of the most calm and composed men on the pitch from kick-off. Carefully picked his passes out from the back and won everything in the air too. more and more this guy looks like the real deal. 7

CARL STARFELT: The big Swede looked like a cat on a hot tin roof throughout. Should have netted two headers but fluffed them both and lost his man at the opener. Never seemed comfortable with the ball at his feet he looked like an accident waiting to happen and could have conceded a penalty right at the death. 4

GREG TAYLOR: A surprise starter but full of energy and running from the first whistle. Popped up all over the pitch trying to create problems and forced Matt Macey into the only save of the first half with a skidding, long range effort. Pulled up late on. 6

CALLUM McGREGOR: Did what he always does. Kept Celtic ticking over in midfield, used the ball superbly and brought control to the centre of the pitch. It was the captain’s killer pass which set up Kyogo’s quick fire equaliser in the second half. 7

DAVID TURNBULL: Opened up brightly enough and had Hibs keeper Matt Macey scrambling with one deflected shot from distance which dropped down wide of the target. But pulled up with a hamstring injury after only 25 minutes and limped off in tears. 3

LIEL ABADA: Look in the mood to do some damage right from the start but the young Israeli's influence faded the longer the first half continued. Had plenty of space down Celtic ’s right to make a difference but failed to do much with it. 5

TOM ROGIC: The elegant Aussie always looked like posing the biggest threat to the Hibs defence whenever he got on the ball in advanced areas. Always in complete control no matter how many white shirts were swarming around him and his quick thinking set-up Celtic’s winner. 7

MIKEY JOHNSTON: There is no hiding place at Hampden and even though the winger seems low on confidence he was always willing to receive the ball and attack down Celtic’s left wing. No lack of effort. But not much end product either. Another casualty late on. 6

KYOGO FURUHASHI:
This was the man the Celtic fans wanted to see on Ange Postecoglou’s team sheet. The striker looked ring rusty from the start and struggled to make any impact on the first half. But he was back with a bang after the break with the goals which broke Hibs hearts. Celtic’s new Hampden hero. 8

Subs

NIR BITTON: Replaced the heart broken Turnbull in 26 minutes and took a long time to get up to the speed of the game. 5

TONY RALSTON: On for Taylor in 74 minutes. 2

LIAM SCALES: Thrown on for the injured Johnston late on. 2

OWEN MOFFAT: A huge day for the teenager who came off the bench to replace Kyogo. 2
