Celtic news and transfer headlines as new centre-back target emerges, winger flattered by Hoops interest

Here are your Celtic evening headlines on Thursday, February 11.

New centre-back target emerges

Celtic are 'targeting' Bosnian centre-back Sinisa Sanicanin, according to a report.

The Hoops are on the lookout for defensive reinforcements this summer with their frailties at the back this season are well documented.

Shane Duffy is set to return to Brighton while Kris Ajer has been widely linked with a move away from Parkhead.

Celtic missed out on a pre-contract deal for Ben Davies on Deadline Day as Liverpool swooped in.

And it seems they have identified a new target in Sanicanin, according to a report in Romania.

The defender is currently plying his trade for Serbian side Vojvodina.

Celtic move would be 'dream stuff'

Joel Randall reckons a move to Celtic would be 'dream stuff' as the Exeter City star is linked with a switch to Glasgow.

It is reported the Hoops are tracking the winger after the 21-year-old has impressed for the League Two side this season.

Randall admitted it was flattering to hear about the interest from Neil Lennon's men, but insisted he is fully focused on finishing the season strong with Exeter.

He told BBC Sport: "I didn't take much notice of it, the agent kept me in touch with a few things and I was aware there was some interest.

"But at the end of the day, I was fully committed to Exeter

I said to them I want to be successful this season and I was just keeping my head down, working hard to play every Saturday and Tuesday for them, so it didn't really bother me too much.

"Of course, seeing the Celtic shout was dream stuff really, to see that interest.

'I've got a job to do with Exeter so I can't let it distract me."

Ajeti responds to critics

Defiant Albian Ajeti has hit back at his critics who called him a "diver' after he was cleared of his SFA charge for simulation.

The striker was hit with a notice of complaint by the governing body after winning his side a penalty against Kilmarnock.

Ajeti was cleared of any wrongdoing as Celtic successfully appealed the decision, but pundits claimed he had conned the referee before a verdict was made.

And the Swiss international insists his critics can call him 'whatever they want' as he was free to face St Mirren on Thursday night.

He said: "Yeah, I was a bit surprised. I didn't know about the process here.

"Now I know and I'm happy that I could play.

"There are many things footballers need to hear about that are not true. This is part of our profession, we have to accept it.

"They can call us whatever they want.

"But we know what's going on on the pitch.

"If they want to call me that they should call me that, but it isn't true.

"But, as I said, this is part of football and we have to accept it and keep our focus on the right things."
