Celtic legends win Man Utd charity match after penalty shoot-out

Celtic ran out winners after a penalty shoot-out in their legends charity match against Manchester United.

The visitors, managed by Bryan Robson, took an early lead through Darren Fletcher as he fired home from 20 yards beyond Joe Hart with 19 minutes on the clock.

United hero Dimitar Berbatov doubled the lead of the Old Trafford legends select side as he slammed into the roof of the net.

Celtic trailed by two goals at the interval, with Tom Boyd, Tosh McKinlay and Brian McClair with a job to do in the home dugout.

After 70 minutes, Celtic reduced the deficit. Scott McDonald found the net to make it 2-1 heading into the final stages of the charity contest.

Five minutes later and Shaun Maloney levelled the scores to force the match to penalties.

Celtic would go on to win the shoot-out 4-3 with Lee Naylor, Simon Donnelly, Charlie Mulgrew and McDonald scoring from the spot.

Michael Carrick, Nani and Chris Eagles netted for United, but Tyler Blackett and Darren Gibson saw their efforts saved.
