Celtic legend Chris Sutton questions Rangers decision to sell season tickets

Chris Sutton has questioned Rangers' decision to press ahead with season ticket sales.

Fans of the Ibrox club will be able to purchase tickets for the 2020/21 campaign from next week, despite uncertainty as to when the season will kick off due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

It was today reported by Record Sport that season ticket renewals are expected to go out by midweek at latest.

Chris Sutton took issue with the plan on Twitter, asking: "How can clubs sell season tickets when we don’t know when this season will end and next season will start and the structure of the league??"

The waiting list for Ibrox season tickets is currently 14,000, with revenue from the tickets bringing in around £20 million every year.

Celtic legend Sutton had earlier told Record Sport that Rangers need to follow rival clubs in considering a wage cut, saying: "Unless Dave King left a giant pit of money as big as the gaping hole in football’s finances as he walked out of the door, given what is happening around the globe at the moment, the Light Blues hierarchy have to be making a similar move.

"If they aren’t, they must be the richest club in Europe and we just didn’t know it."
