Celtic 'learn' asking price for transfer target as loan club decline option

Celtic have learned that it could take £6 million to sign winger Cole Campbell from Borussia Dortmund, it is being reported.

The Parkhead club are being linked with the 20-year-old after he spent the end of last season on loan at fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

There was an option to make that better but journalist Mark Hendry is now reporting Hoffenheim are not set to take that up, potentially paving the way for Celtic to make their move.

The report also adds that Dortmund will be looking for around £6m for the USA under-23 international.

Campbell still has two years left on his contract at Signal Iduna Park, putting his club in a strong position.

With Campbell not really having an impact during his loan and with limited first-team experience, the Scottish champions will now be left to decide whether he would be worth that outlay.

They spent similar on another winger, Michel-Ange Balikwisha, year ago and he failed to deliver over the course of the season.
