Celtic in advanced talks with Eddie Howe manager alternative as deal for top target collapses

Celtic have ramped up their new manager hunt and are reportedly in the advanced stages with another candidate after the Eddie Howe deal collapsed.

Fans have been waiting patiently for the arrival of the former Bournemouth boss and the Parkhead club hoped to unveil their number one target to replace Neil Lennon in the coming days.

Talks with Howe have now completely fallen through after three months without a manager in a horror scenario for the Glasgow giants.

That means the could are now being forced to have a major rethink with the pre-season kick-off just weeks away.

The Daily Mail state the club are in advanced talks with an alternative candidate to step into the hot seat.

Englishman Howe had held talks with Celtic chief Dermot Desmond in London two months ago and was expected to take over for the new season.

However, it's a blow for the club following a nightmare season which saw the club lose the title to rivals Rangers by a whopping 25 points.

Celtic are scheduled to kick-off their pre-season schedule against Sheffield Wednesday on July 5.
