Celtic hand long-term contract to starlet 'hugely deserving' of Parkhead chance

Celtic have handed Hamilton youngster Jude Bonnar his first professional contract.

The 16-year-old winger is highly-regarded within the Hoops youth system and has agreed a long-term deal until the summer of 2024.

Bonnar was originally spotted playing for local club Mill United at the age of seven and was a pupil at Celtic's partner school, St Ninian's High School.

He will officially start the next stage of his football career on the first of January.

Celtic’s head of youth academy, Chris McCart, said: “We are delighted for Jude that he has reached this moment.

"He is hugely deserving of this new contract and we wish him every success for the future.”

Mill United are based in Hamilton and have a track record of producing players that have gone on to have successful careers within the game.

Rangers legend Barry Ferguson, former Celtic and Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley and current Aberdeen star Lewis Ferguson are just some of the names to have played for United.
