Celtic first-team coach Stephen McManus has acknowledged the impact of Gavin Strachan’s departure, while welcoming the arrival of Ross Grant to the club’s coaching setup.
Strachan recently moved to West Bromwich Albion, after playing a key role in developing Celtic’s set-piece approach, an area McManus believes has grown in importance across the modern game.
"I think it’s certainly an area that, as the game’s evolved over the last four or five years, the work that Gavin’s done with the set-players was incredible," McManus said. [CelticPlayer] "He’s a top, top fella and a top, top coach, so Gavin’s going to be a big, big miss."

Ex-Hearts coach Grant has since stepped into the role, bringing fresh ideas and a renewed focus to the same department, according to the former Celtic captain.
"Ross has come in again with new ideas, fresh ideas, and he focused a lot on the set-pieces," McManus added. “We welcome him into the coaching staff, and you can see that the qualities as a person, as a coach, that he’s going to bring.
"We’re excited to see how it goes."
