Celtic deserved to beat Rangers to title says Callum McGregor

Callum McGregor says Celtic deserved to win nine-in-a-row as they were on “another level” before the shutdown.

Neil Lennon’s side were 13 points ahead of Rangers before play was halted, and are now aiming to win a historic tenth successive title.

Celtic returned to training last week following a three-month absence, and McGregor talked to BBC Sport about the new protocols in place at Lennoxtown.

McGregor said: “It's been great. Lennoxtown is a very safe environment and the protocols in place are second to none.

"We get tested every three-four days. The test is a little bit uncomfortable when you get it done but it's needs must and if is process we have to go through to get football back safely the boys are happy to do it."

Discussing matters on the pitch, the Scotland international said: “Going into Christmas it was tight, we came back and were flying. We went to another level with our football so were deserved winners in the end.

It was confirmed on Monday that the existing 12-team Premiership structure would remain in place, with fixtures scheduled to begin behind closed doors on August 1
