Celtic announce Artur Boruc tribute friendly as Legia Warsaw clash set to honour the Holy Goalie

Callum McGregor says Celtic are looking forward to playing their part in a tribute to Artur Boruc.

Ange Postecoglou ’s team have agreed to face Legia Warsaw in Poland on Wednesday, July 20 as part of their pre-season schedule.

Boruc is being rewarded by Legia for eight years of service and the keeper also had a successful period at Parkhead.

The former no.1 spent five years in Glasgow winning three League titles, one Scottish Cup and two League cups as well as helping his squad to reach the last 16 of the Champions League in consecutive years.

McGregor said: “Artur is a huge character and was a massive part of Celtic for a number of years performing brilliantly for the club domestically and in Europe and he will always be so highly regarded by everyone here.

“We are looking forward to playing our part in this tribute to Artur, something he richly deserves after such a long and successful career covering Legia Warsaw, Celtic and a number of other clubs.”

Boruc went onto play for Southampton and Bournemouth before seemingly ending his career where he made his name at the beginning of his career in Poland.
