Celtic ace Josip Juranovic picked out as eye-catching star of World Cup and lands 'unbelievable' tag

Celtic star Josip Juranovic has been picked out by William Gallas as his World Cup eye-catching player.

Ange Postecoglou swooped for the Croatia international 18 months ago in a £2.5million deal from Legia Warsaw and he has taken his game to a new level. He's tasted league and domestic trophy success at the Hoops while he's also played in the Champions League coming up against Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk.

He's now starring on the biggest stage of them all and played a major role as his countrymen knocked out competition favourites Brazil to land a spot in the semi-finals against Lionel Messi and Argentina. His display up against Vinicius Jr and Neymar has caught the eye - not just for defending but also his attacking strengths.

The 27-year-old is reported to have had Atletico Madrid scouts watch him in that last eight clash while the likes of Real Sociedad and Barcelona have been named as have Manchester United and Chelsea previously. Alistair Johnston has arrived at Parkhead already ahead of January with the Scottish champions likely to cash in. They could be set for a tidy sum if they do, with Juranovic earning an 'unbelievable' tag former Chelsea, Arsenal and France star Gallas.

Asked during an interview with Genting Casino for the one player who has grabbed his attention he said: "I will say the Croatian right back, Josip Juranović. What he did against Brazil was just unbelievable. He had to play against Vinicuis Jr, Neymar drifted over to his side, the guy defended very well and, at the same time, he was attacking.

"Can you imagine putting in a performance like that against that level of opponent? Normally when you know that you have to keep players like Neymar and Vinicius quiet what do you do?

"You think, tonight I’m going to have a nightmare and I will just have to defend, I won’t attack. When he had the opportunity, he was attacking. What he did in that game was unbelievable."
