CCTV released after ute destroyed in Edgeworth fire

A CAR burned in Edgeworth last year, and now police have released footage in a bid to solve the case.

A 33-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were awoken about 3am on a Monday night in November by a large banging noise. The pair left their Ridley Street home to find their Ford Falcon utility well alight.

Emergency crews were called and firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.

The utility was completely destroyed while a second vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, suffered smoke damage in the November 23 incident.

On Monday Lake Macquarie detectives released footage as part of their investigation.

Police said the video shows a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.

He is wearing a hooded jumper, shorts and black joggers in the video.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the nearby area or who may have any information which could assist detectives is urged to contact Belmont Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
