CCTV police appeal as hunt for knifeman continues after serious stabbing

Officers investigating a stabbing in Oldham last week have released a new CCTV image as they continue to appeal for help. Police received a report of a stabbing at a property on Blanche Walk, in the St Mary’s area, shortly before 2.30pm on Wednesday, June 15.

Emergency services attended and a 50-year-old woman was taken to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening, Greater Manchester Police says.

Eyewitness reported seeing a large police presence in the area on the day, with Tactical Aid Unit officers and crime scene investigators at the scene. Officers do not believe there is a wider risk to the public following the attack and have since moved to reassure the community.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and have today (June 22) released a photo of a man they wish to speak to. Anyone who recognises the person in the image, or who has details about the attack, is being urged to come forward.

PC Ebony Millington, of GMP’s Oldham CID, says: “We do not believe that this was a random attack nor that there is any threat or risk of harm to the wider community. We'd ask anyone that recognises the individual in the CCTV to contact us, as we would like to speak to them in connection with this incident."

Anyone with information should call 0161 856 8999, quoting 1868 of June 15, 2022. Information can also be shared anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
