Police investigating a rape in Sunderland have released an image of a key witness they wish to trace.
Inquiries are ongoing after it was reported that a woman was raped at an address in the Thornhill area of the city.
Detectives have been carrying out a range of inquiries in connection to the incident in the early hours of January 28.
An image of a woman has now been released, with officers believing she is a key witness who may have seen the victim earlier on the previous evening.
It is understood she may have vital information that may assist officers with their investigation.
The witness, or anyone who recognises her, is asked to call Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 500 280120.
