CCTV appeal after two students are seriously assaulted on Northumberland Street

An investigation is under way after two students were left seriously injured after being attacked in Newcastle city centre.

The incident happened in January when the students, both aged 21, were assaulted as they walked down Northumberland Street.

They received serious injuries that police say have had both a physical and emotional impact on their lives.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the assaults and enquiries into the incidents are ongoing.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "As part of the investigation police have today released images of a man they wish to speak to.
