CBS seeks to recreate shootout after Boston Marathon bombing

CBS Films is seeking permission to recreate the shooting that followed the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.

After the blasts killed three civilians and injured more than 280 others, Tamerlan Tsarnaev died in a subsequent shootout with police on the streets of Laurel and Dexter in Watertown, Massachusetts.

The studio is hoping to begin production on Peter Berg's “Patriot’s Day” which will star Boston-native Mark Wahlberg. However, producers will need the cooperation of residents to proceed with the filmmaking process, Watertown News reports.

“Please note that we are filming overnight and it will require simulated gunshots [noise] until approximately midnight each night,” CBS Films wrote in a notice to residents.

Some residents said that they prefer the movie's shootout scenes remain authentic and film in Watertown.

"I'm for it," said Jean MacDonald, 56, told Boston.com. "It happened on this street, I feel like they should do it here."

Andy, another resident living in the neighbourhood, said that the last thing his family needs to experience is another shooting.

“I will not be here when gunshots are off because I did have to rescue my two kids from their bedroom when gunshots were going off,” he told WBZ NewsRadio 1030, according to CBS Boston.

Filming is expected to begin on April 25.
