Cats stars Hawkins, Dangerfield cleared

Geelong stars Tom Hawkins and Patrick Dangerfield have escaped any sanction for incidents during their team's AFL win over St Kilda.

In a major plus for the Cats ahead of their blockbuster final-round clash with Melbourne, which will decide the minor premiership, Hawkins and Dangerfield will both be available.

A match-day report was laid against Dangerfield during the last quarter of Saturday's clash for contact on Saints midfielder Brad Crouch.

Match review officer Michael Christian viewed the incident as outside of Dangerfield's control, believing Saints midfielder Zak Jones pushed the Brownlow medallist towards Crouch.

Hawkins was also cleared over a tackle which concussed Saints player Darragh Joyce in the final term.

Christian stated Hawkins' actions were "not unreasonable in the circumstances" and no further action was taken.

Meanwhile, Collingwood forward Brody Mihocek is set to miss the Magpies' final-round game against Essendon after being offered a one-match ban for rough conduct against Brisbane's Tom Fullarton.

The second-quarter incident was assessed as careless contact, medium impact and high contact.

There were penalties galore dished out from Saturday's games, with Port Adelaide young gun Zak Butters copping two $2000 fines for striking during the Power's smashing of Carlton.

Western Bulldogs pair Lachie Hunter and Zaine Cordy were handed fines for their respective rough conduct charges during the shock defeat at the hands of Hawthorn.
