Catman Returns: K Chandler Catanzaro back with Jets

Catman is back with Gang Green.

The Jets announced Friday that they’ve reunited with free agent kicker Chandler Catanzaro. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In 2017, Catanzaro went 25-for-30 on field goal attempts for the Jets, with a long of 57 yards. As for extra points, Catanzaro was a perfect 29-for-29.

The Jets decided not to bring Catanzaro back in 2018 and went with Jason Myers instead. Catanzaro ended up in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers. However, that stint only lasted nine games, and he was released after missing two field goals against the Redskins. The Panthers took a flier on him after Graham Gano got injured and Catanzaro kicked in four games for them.

He finished his 2018 campaign 16-for-20 on field goals and 30-for-35 on extra points.

The Jets were in the market for a kicker after declining to re-sign Myers. He landed with the Seattle Seahawks. Catanzaro had one his best seasons with the Jets, so he must feel comfortable in New York. The Jets, meanwhile, know what to expect from Catanzaro as their kicker in 2019.
