Case opens after cyclist killed in crash on A60 in Nottinghamshire

The inquest into the death of a cyclist who died in a crash on the A60 in Nottinghamshire has been opened.

Assistant coroner Laurinda Bower identified the victim as Jamie Lee Hardy, who was born on May 31, 1977, making him 44 at the time of his death.

Police officers were called to the A60 between the village of Oldcotes and Tickhill on Saturday, June 5 this year following the crash which involved a cyclist.

She said: "Just after 12 noon on Saturday, June 5, there were reports of a road traffic incident.

"It was an incident involving a cyclist and a driver and the cyclist was sadly declared deceased at the scene.

"I offer to Mr Hardy's family and friends my sincerest condolences."

His cause of death is currently to be confirmed and the inquest now stands adjourned.

No other people were injured during the incident.

At the time police sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident that has seen a man lose his life.

“Our thoughts are with the cyclist's family and they will be supported by specially-trained officers."
