Carson Wentz is day-to-day after being held out of Eagles scrimmage with a lower-body injury

Carson Wentz is having the best training camp of his NFL career and with the Eagles set to face Washington on the road two-weeks from today, Philadelphia’s coaching staff wasn’t taking any chances.

The Eagles held a full squad scrimmage at Lincoln Financial Field to close out training camp and the Birds star quarterback appears to be a scratch with a lower-body injury.

Several players on the Eagles roster have been diagnosed with lower and upper body injuries during training camp and with the team suffering from soft tissue injuries over the past two seasons, team personnel didn’t want to risk any serious injury to Wentz in a meaningless scrimmage.

With the Eagles also trying to figure out who’ll replace Andre Dillard at left, it was best to protect Wentz and allow him to watch and Tudor the two young signal-callers.

Wentz sitting will allow Eagles coaches to fully evaluate Jalen Hurts and Nate Sudfeld as they work to name a backup quarterback.
