Carl Lawson provides update on injury comeback

The Cincinnati Bengals won’t be without edge defender Carl Lawson much longer.

According to Lawson himself, via the Cincinnati’s Enquirer’s Fletcher Page, he’s back working on fundamentals like stability and balance.

Call it great news for a Bengals team widely considered to be looking at pass rushers early in the 2019 NFL draft after notable contact with many in that expertise.

Lawson broke out upon arrival in Cincinnati via the fourth round in 2017, registering 8.5 sacks. He was pegged as a potential boom player as a sophomore before only tallying one over seven games before suffering an ACL tear in October.

One of Cincinnati’s most efficient pass rushers, Lawson formed a tandem with Carlos Dunlap, Sam Hubbard and others that contributed to Cincinnati’s hot start last season before the wheels fell off.

New head coach Zac Taylor is counting on having him back in the rotation, though they might bring him along slowly — especially if they take another pass rusher early.
