Cardinals RT Marcus Gilbert misses third straight practice

Arizona Cardinals right tackle Marcus Gilbert comes into this season with concerns about his durability. He has missed 23 games in the last three seasons.

Those concerns linger as he has not been practicing. He missed practice Monday for the third day in a row.

AZCardinals.com’s Darren Urban noted the absence.

He was out Saturday along with left tackle D.J. Humphries, which made it feel like a day off. He missed Sunday’s practice as well, but it might have been because of the death of Pittsburgh Steelers receivers coach Darryl Drake. Gilbert played for the Steelers last season.

However, with the third day in a row, it suggests something is bothering him.

He suffered a minor groin injury last week but played in the preseason opener.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Monday he expected mostly everyone to play on Thursday in the team’s second preseason game. Gilbert’s absence raises questions.

The Cardinals will not have another open practice before their game on Thursday.
