Cardinals QB Kyler Murray ‘will definitely be taking a knee’ during national anthem

Since Colin Kaepernick first took a knee during the national anthem in 2016 to protest police brutality against minorities, it has sparked debate and controversy.

While many, including President Trump, have considered kneeling as disrespectful to the flag and the members of the military, it appears it will be much more prominent in the 2020 season after nationwide protests for racial justice and against police brutality following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis while in police custody.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will be one who will kneel during the upcoming season.

“I’ll be kneeling,” he said in a video conference with reporters Wednesday. “I stand for what’s right and that’s the bottom line. I call it like I see it. What’s been going on is completely wrong. I will definitely be taking a knee.”

More Cardinals players could be kneeling as well. Larry Fitzgerald said he doesn’t know. D.J. Humphries said he will wait and see what his teammates do.

With the league openly stating it will support their players in peacefully protesting, kneeling during the anthem might be the norm this coming season.
