Kliff Kingsbury is the Arizona Cardinals’ head coach. However, it is not through Kingsbury where many of the coaches are connected. This is Kingsbury’s first NFL gig and the staff is filled with guys with at least some NFL experience.
Where the connections between the coaches on the staff seem to center is around defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.
Here are the connections:
- Defensive backs coach Marcus Robertson
- Cornerbacks coach Greg Williams
- Linebackers coach Billy Davis
- Special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers
Robertson and Williams were both on Joseph’s defensive staff with the Denver Broncos the last two seasons.
Davis and Rodgers are connected to Joseph dating back more than a decade to the San Francisco 49ers.
Joseph was an assistant DBs coach in 2005 and then promoted to the main DBs coach in 2006, where he stayed through 2010.
Davis was his defensive coordinator in 2005-2006. The two have now switched roles, as Joseph is Davis’ coordinator now.
Rodgers was the 49ers’ assistant special teams coach from 2005-2007.
