Cardinals announce 12 undrafted rookie signings

The Arizona Cardinals selected 11 players in the 2019 NFL draft last week. They have added another 12 rookies that were not drafted. As it always occurs, there is a scramble for undrafted rookies after the draft is over.

The Cardinals added 12 more rookies, announcing their signings on Monday.

Here are the 12 undrafted rookies they signed:

  • Murray State QB Drew Anderson
  • Maine TE Drew Belcher
  • Ohio State LB Dante Booker
  • Wofford DL Miles Brown
  • Rutgers OL Tariq Cole
  • Pittsburgh LB James Folston Jr.
  • Arkansas CB Ryan Pulley
  • Boise State WR A.J. Richardson
  • North Carolina OL Williams Sweet
  • Louisiana Tech DL Immanuel Turner
  • Tarleton State RB Xavier Turner
  • Rutgers TE Jerome Washington

Between the draft picks and undrafted rookies, they added two quarterbacks, four offensive linemen, four receivers, three tight ends, a running back, four defensive linemen, two linebackers, two cornerbacks and a safety.

Murray State QB Drew Anderson

Anderson (6-4, 221) played in 11 games in his lone season with the Racers after transferring from the University of Buffalo. He completed 258-of-429 passes for 2,864 yards and 20 touchdowns while also rushing for 225 yards at Murray State last season. An Orinda, CA native, Anderson began his collegiate career as a walk-on at San Diego State before playing one season at Diablo Valley College where he threw for 3,459 yards and 33 touchdowns. He then transferred to Buffalo where he played in four games in 2017 and threw for 1,039 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Maine TE Drew Belcher

Belcher (6-3, 250) played in 37 career games and began his collegiate career as a quarterback before shifting to tight end for his final two seasons. He caught 63 passes for 581 yards and three touchdowns the past two seasons, including catching 46 passes for 357 yards and a touchdown last season to help Maine advance to the FBS semifinals. As a quarterback, Belcher completed 159-of-278 passes for 1,529 yards and nine touchdowns, including completing all four pass attempts last season and throwing for two touchdowns. A Reading, MA native, Belcher also had 210 carries for 644 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Ohio State LB Dante Booker

Booker (6-3, 240) played in 46 career games (seven starts) and had 74 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks and one pass defensed in his Buckeye career. He played in all 13 games as a senior in 2018 after setting career-highs in 2017 with five tackles for loss and two sacks before a knee injury cut his season short. An Akron, OH native, Booker was the 2013 Mr. Football in the state of Ohio and was one of the top recruits in the nation coming out of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, the same school that produced NBA star LeBron James.

Wofford DL Miles Brown

Brown (6-2, 320) appeared in 50 games (49 starts) and collected 174 total tackles, 38 tackles for loss, and 13.5 sacks. As a senior in 2018, he led Wofford with five sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss to go along with 46 total tackles while starting all 12 games. A Cheverly, MD native, Brown was named to the All-Southern Conference first-team his final three seasons after being a second-team selection as a freshman. He was also a STATS and Phil Steele third-team All-American selection and was named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch list last year.

Rutgers DL Tariq Cole

Cole (6-6, 317) was a three-year starter and played 42 games (34 starts) during his Scarlet Knight career, including starting all 11 games at left tackle last season. A Long Beach, NY native, Cole served as a team captain as a senior in 2018 and helped Rutgers rank second in the Big Ten and 19th nationally by allowing only 1.33 sacks per game. He was selected as All-Big Ten honorable mention twice during his collegiate career (2016-17).

Pitt LB James Folston Jr.

Folston (6-3, 240) played in 43 games at defensive end and recorded 47 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks during his Panthers career. His father, James Folston, played seven seasons in the NFL at linebacker, including his final two seasons (1999-2000) with the Cardinals and appeared in 19 games (three starts). As a senior 2018, Folston Jr. played in all 14 games and totaled 15 tackles.

Arkansas CB Ryan Pulley

Pulley (5-11, 198) played in 34 games (23 starts) and totaled 94 tackles, four tackles for loss and five interceptions in his career. In 2018, he played in 11 games (nine starts) and led the team with three interceptions to go along with 37 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, seven passes defensed, one sack and one forced fumble. A Fort Myers, FL native, Pulley had a career-high 13 passes defensed and 47 tackles as a sophomore in 2016.

Boise State WR A.J. Richardson

Richardson (6-0, 212) set career-highs a senior in 2018 with 54 receptions for 825 yards and eight touchdowns while playing in all 13 games (eight starts). He finished last season with a career-high three games of 100+ receiving yards. A Lomita, CA native, Richardson played in 53 career games (22 starts) at Boise State and had 99 receptions for 1,474 yards and 11 touchdowns.

North Carolina OL William Sweet

Sweet (6-6, 313) started all 10 games he played at left tackle last season, leading a Tar Heels unit that allowed just 10 sacks, the seventh fewest in the NCAA. He received UNC’s offensive lineman of the week award three times in 2018, helping the Tar Heels average 442.1 yards of total offense, including 193.0 rushing yards per game. The Jacksonville, FL native played 26 games during his collegiate career.

Louisiana Tech DL Immanuel Turner

Turner (6-3, 287) totaled 58 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and five sacks in 45 career games for the Bulldogs. A Magnolia, AR native, Turner played in 13 games and collected 36 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries and three sacks as a senior in 2018.

Tarleton State QB Xavier Turner

Turner (5-10, 226) rushed for 1,469 yards and 22 touchdowns on 228 carries (6.4-yard average) for the Texans last season, earning Offensive Back of the Year and first-team All-Lone Star Conference recognition. A North Richland Hills, TX native, Turner gained 2,234 yards and scored 33 touchdowns on 377 rushing attempts in 25 games at TSU (2017-18) after transferring from Navarro (Corsicana, TX) College, where he totaled 1,118 rushing yards in two seasons (18 games) with the Bulldogs.

Rutgers TE Jerome Washington

Washington (6-3, 241) played in 19 games (15 starts) in his two seasons with the Scarlet Knights after transferring from the University of Miami. While at Rutgers, Washington had 39 receptions for 484 yards and one touchdown over the past two years and was named to the 2018 preseason John Mackey Award watch list for the nation’s top tight end. An Elizabeth, NJ native, Washington played in nine games at Miami in 2015 after beginning his college career at Mercer Community College.
