Cardiff City transfer news as Steve Morison outlines deadline day aims and Bluebirds hero turns out for Bristol City

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City news for Tuesday, August 30.

Morison ready to go down to the wire

Cardiff City boss Steve Morison says he wants to bring at least one more player through the door before Thursday night's deadline, and admits things could go right down to the wire

"We are looking for one [signing], for definite," he said. "At the moment, it's none. When I'm saying that, people think I'm saying it flippantly and we aren't looking. If the deadline ended right now, that might have changed, because people are going to have to make decisions.

"People might be waiting for the last minute themselves to decide whether they can get someone in before they let someone out."

Asked if he would be satisfied with his squad were further additions not possible, Morison added: "We will get on with the group we have, because that's what we have to do. We don't have a choice in that."

Bagan back for Hatters test

Cardiff City will welcome Joel Bagan back for Tuesday night's clash with Luton Town, after the youngster was given the all clear following his head knock against Bristol City.

There is doubt over whether Callum O'Dowda will be fit, though, following a knock to his hip on the weekend. Steve Morison has said it's not a long-term injury, though and he will be back by the weekend at the latest.

Kion Etete is out after rolling his ankle for the under-21s last week against Sheffield United. Isaak Davies has also suffered a little setback to his knee injury, which you can read about here.

Ebou Adams is still missing, but Morison hopes to see the midfielder back training soon.

As for Luton, they will be unable to call upon Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu and Harry Cornick, who are ruled out with knee and leg injuries respectively.

Bamba makes first Robins appearance

Cardiff City hero Sol Bamba turned out for Bristol City's under-21s on Tuesday afternoon.

The 37-year-old, who was released by Middlesbrough earlier in the summer, was named in the starting line-up for the young Robins as they took on Birmingham City.

Bamba played 65 minutes before being replaced and, by all accounts, put in a solid shift, as Bristol battled their way to a 0-0 draw.

It now seems as though he could be considered as a potential option for boss Nigel Pearson, although it remains to be seen whether he will be handed the chance to stay at Ashton Gate.

Young Bluebirds defeated

Cardiff City's under-21s slipped to defeat at home to Burnley at Leckwith on Tuesday afternoon.

The young Bluebirds took the lead just before half an hour courtesy of Raheem Conte's dipping drive, before Lewis Richardson restored parity midway into the second half.

And the Clarets wrapped up the victory 20 minutes from time after Mark Helm found the net.
