Cardiff City transfer news as Hudson reveals January signing talks with Vincent Tan and West Ham kid scores on trial

Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Thursday, November 10.

West Ham kid scores on Bluebirds trial

West Ham United youngster Lennon Peake scored on his trial with Cardiff City under-21s this afternoon.

The 20-year-old winger was announced as a trialist on Cardiff City's team sheet but it can be revealed that it was indeed Irons academy wide man Peake.

The winger has endured a hellish two years of injury torment, missing two full seasons before making a comeback at the start of this campaign.

However he has struggled for minutes in West Ham's youth setup this term and it appears he is seeking more regular action elsewhere, with the Bluebirds offering him a trial spot with the club.

And he certainly made a decent impression, scoring in just the second minute of the match against Charlton Athletic.

However, the young Addicks hit back through Daniel Kanu on the half-hour mark and he was on the scoresheet again after the break to earn the London club the win.

Hudson has spoke to Tan over January plans

Mark Hudson has already held talks with owner Vincent Tan over the club's January transfer strategy.

The Bluebirds owner said in his interview with WalesOnline that support would be available in January, but that no more "stupid transfers" would be sanctioned.

Well Hudson, who is inching closer to being announced as manager until the end of the season, has revealed he has already held talks over strengthening the squad in January for the back end of the season.

"We have spoken about January," Hudson said. "We want to talk about the right personnel for the club - if it's possible.

"We have started planning for that. The closer we got to it, we we will see where we are at.

"We were planning for it anyway. I said earlier that we were planning for short, medium and long term. We have got a plan for each player and as a squad.

"Like Vincent says, we have a plan for January as well which is good."

Bluebirds duo in Ireland squad

Callum O'Dowda and Callum Robinson have both been included in the Republic of Ireland's squad of their upcoming friendlies.

Stephen Kenny has named his squad for the upcoming friendlies with Norway and Malta, which are due to take place during the World Cup break.

O'Dowda and Robinson have both made impacts since joining in the summer and are more than worthy of their places, with the pair contributing 13 goal involvements for their club so far this term.

Lennie Lawrence given role at EFL club

Hartlepool United have appointed former Cardiff City boss Lennie Lawrence to a position in their boardroom.

Lawrence was manager of the Bluebirds from 2002 to 2005 and oversaw the club's promotion to what is now the Championship.

And while he has been out of management for more than a decade, he has been involved in football in other capacities. Cardiff fans will remember his return to assist Paul Trollope's ill-fated spell at the start of the 2016/17 season. He also spent three years as Newport County's first-team managerial consultant alongside Mike Flynn.

Now, though, he has a new role and Hartlepool chairman Raj Singh said: “We are delighted to bring Lennie to Hartlepool United.

“I’ve been in constant dialogue with him since he moved back to the area earlier this year. There’s a mutual agreement that Lennie will be with us until the end of the season where we will then sit down and reassess the situation.

"For now, he will provide a great knowledge of the game following his managerial successes and it’s another step in the right direction for this football club.”
