A driver abandoned their car in Nottingham city centre having been spotted by police not wearing a seatbelt. Police say it was found they also had no insurance. The red Peugeot was dumped in King's Street on April 7 as Nottinghamshire Police stopped its driver because they were not wearing a seatbelt. The driver however allegedly fled and the car was seized.
The force says they will soon be getting a "hefty fine" in the post. The city centre team said: "Neighbourhood officers within the city centre are clamping down on the four main causes of road traffic collisions – speeding, drink and drug driving, driving while distracted and non-wearing of seat-belts.

"The proactive operation led to officers stopping a car in King’s Street on April 7 after its driver was spotted without a seatbelt. The driver ran off from the vehicle but can expect a hefty fine in the post and potential disqualification for driving without a seatbelt and having no insurance.
"The abandoned vehicle was seized by officers. Please drive sensibly when in the city centre, be aware of pedestrians and cyclists who are most at risk. You can use 101 or our online services to report anti-social driving."
