A statement on the Slaithwaite fire station Facebook page said: "The team at Slaithwaite were called to single car road traffic collision on A640 New Hey Road, up near the old Nont Sarah's pub. The car had left the road doing a somersault onto the verge.

"Luckily the only person in the car was the driver and they managed to escape with relatively minor injuries after being assessed by YAS on scene. The crew made the scene safe disconnecting the battery to prevent any chance of a fire from damaged electrics."
