Police had to be kept busy after a dramatic south Manchester crash as two separate drivers were clocked filming the scene on their phones. Officers closed off Withington Road, near Chorlton and Whalley Range, on Friday evening (August 12) following a crash involving two cars.
An image shared by Greater Manchester Police shows the crash involved a black Mercedes-Benz and another car, which was left on its side following the smash. While work took place to investigate the collision and make the scene safe, officers were twice called into action when two drivers brazenly decided to break the law in front of them.
Police first seized a silver Vauxhall Corsa after its driver was spotted filming the scene on his phone as he drove past. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, while police checks also found he was uninsured.

Shockingly, police dealt with a similar incident moments later, when another driver decided to film the scene on their phone. In a series of tweets, a spokesperson for GMP Chorlton said: "GMP Transport Unit patrols have been dealing with an RTC on Withington Road for the last few hours.
"Thanks to the majority of motorists for your patience whilst we had sections of the road closed. The road is now fully open again.

"However whilst dealing with the RTC the driver of this Corsa tried to drive through our closure. He was using his mobile phone to film the scene and wasn't wearing his belt. Checks revealed he was also uninsured. Car seized... driver summoned.
"Another driver also decided they'd film the scene on their phone whilst driving. They were issued with a Traffic Offence Report. Using a handheld mobile phone whilst driving is an offence and can lead to points/fines and collisions!"
