Car left on its side on busy Cardiff road as driver flees scene in a taxi

A driver flipped their car on a busy Cardiff road and fled the scene in a taxi.

South Wales Police said they were called to the crash which happened at around 7.45pm on Thursday on City Road.

A spokeswoman said the driver left the scene and is believed to have got into a taxi on nearby Albany Road.

Officers are continuing to try and identify the driver alongside a second man also seen getting out of the overturned car.

No serious injuries were reported and the Welsh Ambulance Service said they did not attend the crash.

A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew from Cardiff Central attended the scene to assist police.

A police spokeswoman said: "A number of witnesses have come forward for which we are grateful.

We would appeal for anyone else with information on the driver, or the individual himself, to please contact 101 or their nearest police station and quote occurrence 430457."
