Car flips onto roof after plunging into water at Fife burn

A car has been left upside down in a Fife burn after plunging off a nearby road.

The vehicle ended up submerged in the Kinness Burn in St Andrews following the accident this morning.

Luckily nobody was harmed in the crash, but Kinnessburn Road remains closed.

Photos posted by a local Facebook page show how the red Volvo ended up on its roof in the water.

Police were called to the scene to assist and have arranged for the car to be removed.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 11.50am on Thursday, 11 February, we received a report of a one vehicle crash on Kinnessburn Road in St Andrews.

“The road has been closed.

"No one was injured in the incident and uplift of the vehicle has been arranged.”

It's thought that icy conditions in the area caused the driver to lose control.

According to locals online, it is the second time in under six months a car has ended up in the burn.
